Dorothee von Detten heads the inheritance law department at ROSE & PARTNER in Cologne. As an inheritance lawyer, she advises and assists entrepreneurs and private individuals in all questions of pension and asset succession planning in Germany. In addition to emergency planning for private individuals, she also deals with emergency and succession planning for family businesses and all related problems.
Attorney von Detten advises and represents clients in estate planning through wills, inheritance contracts or lifetime gifts, in the settlement of the inheritance case as well as in inheritance disputes. Ms. von Detten also acts as executor of wills herself.
Another focus of her work is the support and representation of clients in the defense against claims for a compulsory portion as well as in claiming the compulsory portion.
In addition, Ms. von Detten develops individual emergency plans including health care powers of attorney wills, patient and guardianship decrees.
As a mediator with many years of experience, Dorothee von Detten supports her clients - if desired - in solving their problems or conflicts as a neutral mediator.
Additional Background
Dorothee von Detten studied law at the University of Osnabrück. After her first state examination with additional studies in economics, she completed her legal clerkship at the OLG Düsseldorf with stations at a renowned criminal law firm in Cologne and the corporate legal department of Volkswagen AG in Wolfsburg.
After her second state examination in 2009, Dorothee von Detten initially worked in a law firm in Düsseldorf specializing in inheritance law. In 2011, Attorney von Detten completed her training as a mediator and the specialist course in inheritance law.
Subsequently, she worked for many years for a german boutique law firm with a nationwide focus, which dealt exclusively with the specific issues of succession in family businesses. There, she advised family businesses and their owners as well as business families on securing their future by providing advice in the fields of business consulting, family strategy, business succession and contingency planning. During this time, Dorothee von Detten gained extensive expertise with regard to the legal, entrepreneurial and personal issues involved in a generational change.
Private
Having grown up in the Lüneburger Heide, Dorothee von Detten loves to spend time with her family by the sea, especially at the North Sea on Langeoog or in Holland. She enjoys evenings with friends just as much as she does working out in sports or relaxing with a good book.
